What are your best options to disguise or repair a hair transplant scar?

There are a few options available to disguise or repair your hair transplant scar, some permanent and others not. We will look into each one of these procedures along with the pros and cons associated with that particular method.

MHT – Micro hair tattooing (mht) is a procedure that covers up the original hair transplant scar with what looks like real hair. MHT MicroHair™ and MHT HairReplication™ is a form of a very sophisticated scalp tattooing technique. The advantage of this treatment is that it covers up the hair transplant scar fully and without the need for surgery. The procedure is permanent and everyone is a suitable candidate for this hair transplant scar treatment. Also it is cheaper than both fue and strip.

FUE – You can opt to have follicular unit extraction (fue) on your hair transplant scar. So thus taking hairs from the donor area and having them replanted on and around the hair transplant scar. The method would be ideal for candidates who have a small scar and a healthy amount of hair left still left in the donor area. The disadvantages are that hair growth on the scar tissue itself is less than optimal. Cost can be an issue for some people as fue is one of the more expensive method compared to others. Also not everyone is a good candidate for fue treatment, so this would not be the best choice for your hair transplant scar if you were in this category.

STRIP – If you have good flexibility of the scalp then you may be a good candidate to have your original hair transplant scar opened up and then re-closed again, this time leaving a much smaller transplant scar. This method to reduce the size of your hair transplant scar would only be ideal for candidates who have good scalp elasticity. There is also a possibility the scar could stretch, however it would still be smaller than it originally was. Cost also would be a factor as this procedure to reduce the size of the hair transplant scar would be similar to that of FUE.

CONCEALERS – Many people who have a hair transplant scar and choose to wear their hair quite short, apply a concealer to hide the transplant scar. The main advantage is that this is the cheapest method there is to hide your hair transplant scar. On the downside it’s something you have to apply on a daily basis, you have to be careful that people don’t touch the back of your head where the hair transplant scar is and ensure that you are covered up in adverse weather conditions as otherwise the concealer would start to ‘run’ if you got caught in the rain.
